A headless rider charges through the night, one hand on the reins and the other carrying what he has long been searching for.
Inspired by Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and my love for Tim Burton’s gothic film Sleepy Hollow, The Headless Horseman is my take on one of my favorite figures from American folklore.
Named for the Hessian soldier whose ghost is said to haunt Sleepy Hollow in Irving’s tale, this 5 × 7 print was created as part of my Halloween collection and designed to display beautifully on its own or alongside The Wayward Witch.
